Blowing His Horn: Bazin the Inventor Canton Public Library Sunday Lecture Few people know that the modern reed instrument was invented here in Canton in the early 1800's. James Amireaux Bazin (1798-1883) was an important American free-reed instrument pioneer, and the first American accordion maker c.1835. Hardly anyone knows about Bazin, yet his inventions changed music in America. We have invited Darcy Kuronen, who was the Curator of Musical Instrument at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts for over twenty years. Kuronen is a Bazin scholar and he will talk about the instruments and the man that was a pioneer in music and science. Sunday, July 14
